P/s please contact me through email: thaiduong232002@yahoo.com

  2. if your fligth at noon ( some vietnam flight maybe depart at 3.00 PM. )

you can made export licence early morning ( 8.30 am open) monday -friday and close for public holiday

after you finish for export licence , you can check in with dog and talk to airline to load you dog as excess baggage

( if you don’t have export licence and health certificate ,the airline not accept to load your dog )

best time to do 3 day before flight made export licence with health certificate day after that you will buy ticket

    Dear Admin,

I see that you work for Thai airway import and export, so i am hoping you can help me…

I am moving to Thailand soon from the United Kingdom, and i am bringing my dog with me to Bangkok airport… I have (from the UK) got his health certificate, his export certificate, paperwork to show that all his vaccinations are up to date, including rabies, a letter from the vet to say that he is fit to travel, but i cannot seem to get an import certificate for him to enter Thailand..

I have been told that i can get the import certificate at Bangkok airport once i arrive, and that all i have to do is go to the import desk with all my paperwork from UK..

Please can you tell me if this is correct, as i would hate to arrive in Bangkok, and be told that my dog cannot enter Thailand..

    A million thanks,

    Karen

  4. Hello Karen

you have to do 2 section

1.In UK you should be contact Department for environment, food and rural affair (DEFRA) to made health certificate and stamp by official Veterinarian, some time they need for import permit (the letter from government to said that Thailand allow your pet import to thailand )

You can contact to animal quarantine to made the letter by this e-mail qsap_bkk@dld.go.th or use my service to made import permit for you ( 20USD/ paper)

2.When arrival Thailand, you should declare your dog at animal quarantine subunit in arrival hall near baggage claim No.8,they will issued import licence for you (customs will collect copy of this paper)

  9. Hi! Thanks for posting very helpful information regarding pet travel on Thai Airways. I’m sure as pet owners, we are all very concerned about our ‘little one’.

    My question is…
I will be flying from Bangkok to Los Angeles. I have 1 dog and 2 cats that I need to bring with me. Can I bring my dog (under 3.5 kg) in the cabin as carry on with me and pay to have the 2 cats checked in as excess baggage?

Basically, it’s important that I get all 3 pets back with me and hopefully I can do this is one trip.

Also…can you give me an estimate price for transport of 1 dog in cabin and 2 cats as checked baggage?

    Kob Khun Ka….

    Bee

  10. Hi Bee

Normally TG allowed for 1 pet/passenger to carry on the cabin, and total pets maybe not over than 2-3 pets/flight.

If you buy business class,or gold member maybe they allow for 2 cat with you in soft cage.

Cost for your dog 20000-30000 THB by volume of your cage and size of the dog.

Total cost maybe 50000-60000 THB ,please check again with TG officer

    information they needed

    1.weight of the pets
    2.volume of cage ( Lenght * Widht * Heigth)

(Don’t forget to made export licence from animal quarantine)

  11. Hi I currently live near Pattaya but am moving to Phuket. I am trying to find out details of airlines that will fly my two dogs( Large dogs )on a domestic flight and how much much it is going to cost, as I may be better off driving there, although it is a long drive. I already have all the paperwork that got them into Thailand from England.

    Thanks

    Shel

  12. Thought I would post this for those wanting to bring there dogs into Thailand.(As cargo) I know as I brought my two rather large dogs into Thailand from England. Just a few tips. You need to be persistent when trying to get yur import certificate from Bangkok ( This doesn’t cost you). Call them too. They will say yes, yes tommorrow I will email it, then tommorrow comes it never arrives in your inbox. Eventually you will get it though. It took me over two weeks!

Also when you arrive in Bangkok you are liable for some serious import taxes. I mean alot of money. DO NOT PAY the first price they quote you. You will have to haggle. I took my Thai friend with me but you can do it yourself if your persistant.

Another word of advise. Do not have book a flight for your dogs arriving in the evening as the cargo office shuts at 4.pm and they will not let you collect your dog. I found out this when I arrived and had to leave my dogs at the office and go back to Bangkok the next day to collect them.

Any more info you need I will be happy to share as it is a long proccess bringing your dog here but they are well worth it in the end!

    Shel.

  13. Hello shel

1.You can fly with THAI AIRWAYS from Bangkok to Phuket.

  18. Hi Admin,

I am planning on the bring my dog from Thailand to Malaysia. I was wondering which would be the best option since my family and I will be heading to Phuket from Bangkok for a quick vacation before heading back to Kuala Lumpur.

Option 1 – Bringing him as excess baggage
    1) Bringing him as excess baggage from BKK to HKT
    2) Again sending him as excess baggage from HKT to KUL
Question: Not sure if Phuket Airport handles pet export and do I need any export permit and can I apply it at Phuket Airport?

Option 2 – Send him as Cargo shipment from BKK to KUL direct

Any suggestion? Is sending via Cargo much more expensive then as excess baggage?

  19. Hello Emily

recommend option 1 because low cost and you can apply export licence at HKT (if you any time to do it by yourself) and you will contact KUL to made import permit first ( if you don’t have, HKT animal quarantine will not made export licence for you ,please contact animal quarantine HKT TEL 076351514 for more information )

option 2 maybe easy to do in BKK,but you you wil have problem in KUL (you will pay for shipper to release your dog from customs ), if you want to do please find shipper company in KUL before sending dog from BKK.

if you want to send by cargo from BKK ,we can service you, please call 086-988128 ( Mr.TU )

  20. Admin – do you know of any government veterinary clinic/hospital in Bangkok that I can get Health Certificate for my dog?

Any idea how long to get an export license, what are the documents required and process to do so?

I am leaving from DMK instead of BKK to HKT on TG, is there anything I need to do for shipping my dog as excess baggage at DMK? Or do I just check-in at the counter on the day of departure and check him as excess baggage? Any paperwork I need?

  21. Hello Emily

For official health certificate you can made at animal quarantine in HKT only !!!!

Paper it will made By Animal quarantine in HKT

    1.Export licence
2.Official Health Certificate ( Sign by Government Veterinarian )

All Clinics and vet hospital in thailand can not made Official health certificate for international transport ( By export regulation of Kingdom of THAILAND )

Some clinic said that they can do (but can not use for export from thailand) and they will charge 700-1000 THB

No any paper need for domestic flight

any problem please discuss with animal quarantine at HKT,Phone no in previous comment

  25. I am taking my two dogs to the UK soon, and have to take them as manifest cargo rather than excess baggage, as this is what the UK requires. How long before they fly will they have to be at Suvarnabhumi, and is there somewhere suitable for them to stay before they are placed on the aircraft?

    Thank you,
    Lauren

  26. Hello Lauren

Normally time to fly as cargo waiting period 3-6 Hr. before departure time (Variable by shipper experience and airline regulation )

When everything complete, the dogs will send to free zone area (Thai airway cargo or BFS cargo),they have specific room for live animal, but you should be talk to your agent to give some water for your dog.

    regards

  27. VERY HELPFUL INFORMATION! I am confused about what it means to send my cat by cargo from Bangkok on Etihad, because the Etihad website says animals can travel in the baggage compartment. I want to know if my cat arrives in Canada (Toronto)with my luggage, or do I have to go somewhere else? I will be on the same plane but I have to use an agent TransAir Cargo so I am not sure if the cat will be in baggage compartment or somewhere else? Trans Air Cargo says it will charge about 5,000 baht ‘handling fee’ and then about 4,000 baht for the cat. Does that sound right to you?
Thank you again for all your helpful answers!!! This is confusing. I wish Thai Airways flew to Canada because then my cat could fly in the cabin with me!

Thank you for making the time to answer these questions. You have helped so many people!
I am hoping you might be able to advise me too.

I am moving to Japan with my cat in August. I have the rabies shots/microchip and paper work from Japan and she is currently waiting out her 180 days in Bangkok. I am in the process of applying for import to Japan and everything seems to be in place.
I have to get her checked by a govnt official 2 days before flying….does this happen in quarantine at Suvarnibumi?

I also need to be sure that when I buy the tickets for Japan, that I get the right times to cause the least stress.
She will come on Thai Airways “hand luggage” (in the hold, I believe), but what time is best to depart? The flights leave early morning (7.30ish) or late at night (10.30ish). What time does the quarantine office open so that I can get her checked before flying?
    Amy advice would be appreciated…
    Thanks again,

  47. Hi Im taking my dog bak to the uk from Thailand, I have been told by my Quarantiine kennels in the uk that i do not need to have my dogs blood tested because she will be in quarantine there for 6 months, all they require is health cert, rabbies vacs tape and tick treatment and export licence, the blood test is not needed, so why do the thai vets insist that she have this done ? it seems an uncalled for cost, please advise.

  53. hi, admin

i’m going to send my boy from Australia back to BKK, we will be in the same flight , however, im still researching lots of info. !! and I called to one of the pet shipping carrier in Aus. They said ” in Aus. they dont allow to ship pets as excess baggage… all pets have to go as cargo” —> so, this is really confusing me !!!

    As u mention above:
“In australia I recommend you please send your cat as excess baggage,if possible do not use courier company and you contact directly to australia animal quarantine station for export licence and health certificate” –> So, you mean that there are possibility to send dog as excess baggage right ???

Another question …….. As u mentioned above:

you can got permit by e-mail and phone contact
    please send e-mail to qsap_bkk@dld.go.th
    wiht attach file
    1.passport
    2.dog vaccination certificat
3.address in AUS and in THA
4.date and time to arrived THA, and flight Number

i’m just wondering that if i change the date of arrival or flight number, The import permit is still ok or it can be void ??? and how long the import permit is valid ???

    Many thx !!!

  54. Hi Emmie
    1. please contact Australia Quarantine Services (AQIS) for more info ,maybe my info not up to date for AUS regulation
    2. pets from AUS send as cargo ,and consignee will pay for customs clearance in THA
    3. Import permit valid in 45 day no ploblem for flight change
    4. I can manage for customs clearance and import permit for you ,if interest please contact nattachai59@hotmail.com

  55. Hi admin,

many thx for replying so fast !!! Great job !! but i still have some questions which are unclear.

    1. the TH import permit is valid 45 days from the date of issue (or from the department of livestock send the e-mail) ??

    2. as discuss with pet shipping carrier in Aus. All pets have to go as Cargo. But some of my friends who experienced in import their dogs back BKK. They are warning me that … u gonna waste lots of time at the airport (like half day) as the Thai Cargo opens at 9 am. while we normally arrive in BKK around 5 or 6 am. —-> is it true that the cargo opens at 9 am. ??? and we can not do anything except waiting time pass by !!

    3. Can we arrange with cargo to release him before that, then the next step i will take him to quarantine check point and finally go to custom clearance ??? any possibility ??? otherwise, have to wait at the airport almost half day !!! it’s not only me who must be exhausted but i’m worried about my boy … is he ok ???, is he hungry ???, can he adapt with suddenly weather change from really cold to really hot ??? …. basically, im too worried about his health both physical and mind.

    4. for custom clearance … can u estimate the tax impose on dog ? what custom measure from : breed, weight, size or ……. ???? my boy is an Aussie pomeranian –> so regard as small breed right ??? but wondering how the custom calculate tax impose ?? As i mentioned above : my friends are warning me about tax as well …. bcoz even though they import their boys in the same breed , color, weight and in the same flight…. etc. but how come the tax impose on each dog is so big different … eg. A dog tax impose appox. 6000 baht then B dog tax impose appox. 10000 bath ????

So, what the custom impose tax base on which criteria ? Any suggestion ??

i know, this is quite long question but i cant find any reliable or clear info.

Hope you dont mind to answer the above questions. If any other questions or problems, i will e-mail to u again ….

Thx you a lot !!! hope to hear from u soon !!!

  56. Hi Emmii
1.Import permit valid from date of issued ,but you can extend for that
2.customs open 24 hr, but normally all agency who arrangre for customs clearance open 9 am
3.legal agency will arrange all document before client arrived ( but illegal agency they take more waste time )
4.tax up to freight charge and shipment value ,include service charge and over time charge normally 10000 -15000 THB( illegal 20000-30000 THB)
    5. My service, client waiting at passenger terminal after finish for customs clearance, meet the dog and pay for service(2 hr after arrived)

  57. thx admin, very helpful info.

but actually im only concerning about Cargo operation time …. Does Cargo open 24 hrs, same as Custom clearance ???? or Cargo opens at 9 am. ??? Honestly, i dont have much time to wait at the airport coz the flight will land early morning around 5 am. 61. Hi. I’m bringing my hamster from Shanghai to Bangkok. I have contacted Thai Airways but they said they do not accept other animals but dogs and cats. Do you have any suggestions about this? I’m also going to write to qsap_bkk@dld.go.th in case they can help. Thank so much in advance. It really means a lot to me.

  63. Transit and early morning departure.
Hello, we need to overnight in BKK airport area with our pet before departing early the next morning on a UA flight to Tokyo. We are interested in knowing:

    1) Is there any facility at the airport where our dog can remain overnight, or are there hotels nearby where she can stay with us until the next morning?

    2) Our flight leaves around 6am, and so we will need to check-in at about 4am. Other than with the airline, will there be any procedural requirements/problems with BKK airport authorities that can delay our dog being able to leave with us? For instance, will certain offices not be open yet that we would need to see (perhaps we need to take care of things the night before)?

Thank you in advance for whatever information and assistance you can provide. Best regards.

  70. Hello,

I live in Bangkok, but am moving to Belgium. Unfortunately, I have to move there before my cat’s 90 day wait period after the blood test is over. Shipping companies seem to be so expensive. Are there any you recommend in Bangkok? If I can get a friend to get my export license and drive the animal to the airport, could he just go alone on the plane? Thanks so much.

  71. Hi JANE
If you have your freind maybe can bring your cat to Belgium by your friend carry on ( pet in cabin or excess baggage)
cat cannot go alone without owner or responsibility person
    (send as cargo only)
If interest to send as cargo I will send you quotation for my service

  72. Hi Jane,
I moving to Europe as well this month and the best airline I found and extremely helpful has been Emirates. Send their office and email and they will send you back the list of requirements you must meet so you know which flights and connections to book before departure.
I found their service easier that Thai, I bought my pets here with Thai and I don’t remember the process being as simple.
    Good luck Coco

  73. Hi! I want to send my maltese to Vietnam, travelling alone on Malaysia Airlines to Ho Chi Minh City. Do I need to get an import license from Vietnam?

  74. Admin
we are bringing a cat and small dog to Phuket from Australia. we have all the necessary rabies and vaccines done and certificates.
where do we get an import certificate from? when we arrive in Bangkok or when we arrive in Phuket?
we will fly into Bangkok at about 4pm and then 2 hours wait until our flight from Bangkok to Phuket. getting into Phuket at about 7pm. will there be a vet at Phuket airport at 7pm?
can we see our animals whilst we are waiting the 2 hours in Bangkok?
we are flying on the same flights as them – TG476 Sydney to Bangkok and then TG221 bangkok to Phuket
do pets have to go in the cargo?

  77. Dear Admin,

I am bringing my dog to Vientiane through Thai Airways for a while, and we have a 5 hour lay over in Bangkok. We will be flying from Los Angeles. I wanted to know that during the layover if we get to check on our dog, see him, feed him, and make sure he goes to the bathroom. Also, I’d like to know if the area where the dogs go to the bathroom is gated and protected. We have a race dog who is good at running away and is very fast – we’d hate for him to be lost in a different country!

Also, if we went from Vientiane to Rome Italy, what documentation would we need? Would our dog still be treated like an American dog and we would continue using his old paperwork from the States? Thank you so much for your help!

    Sincerely,
    Mattie
